Colotenango daily huipil.

Colotenango ceremonial huipil. This circa 1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three cotton panels. The center panel is wider and more heavily decorated. It is considered ceremonial because of its uniquely large size. The surface decoration is brocade in the “soumak” style. The head hole and arm holes are trimmed by hand embroidered chain stitch. It is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Aguamarina Mateo, daughter of Juana Mateo Rosales, in Panajachel. W89 x L61 cm. (14-08) $ 150. OBO
