Joyabaj huipil.

This circa-2000 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two predominantly black, warp-striped cotton blend base panels. The neck and arm holes are surrounded by hand embroidered circles of decoration typical of Joyabaj huipils. There is no separate style of Joyabaj ceremonial huipil, but the embroidery on this huipil is very extensive. This fine example is in excellent condition. Acquired from an important private collection in Antigua Guatemala. W 94 x L 48 cm. (19-40) $ 125. OBO
