San Pedro Necta daily huipil.

This circa-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in one cotton warp striped panel. This panel is decorated with rows of supplementary weft brocade in geometric motifs. Necta huipils are constructed so that the warp runs horizontally when worn. They are partially closed along one side to create a head opening. This construction is unique to San Pedro Necta huipils. The arm openings are trimmed with hand crochet and the head opening with hand embroidered chain stitch . This beautiful example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Petronila Mendez Bocó at the Mercado des Artesanos in Antigua. W 68 x L 44 cm. (15-116) $ 95. OBO
